Høringssvar

I am writing to express my deep concern for the proposed metro project that is planned to run through our neighbourhood in Margretheholms. I am referring in particular to the proposed plan to build the metro as an elevated railway.
The construction of an elevated metro line would irrevocably alter the landscape of our green area, which serves as a vital ecological zone and a community gathering place for all citizens. The loss of this green space would not only diminish the quality of life for those living nearby but would also affect the wider community that relies on these areas for recreation and respite.
Additionally, the impact on the nearby harbor is a concern that extends beyond our neighbourhood. This area is known for its natural beauty and biodiversity, both of which would be severely compromised by a structure of this type. The potential for increased noise and pollution during both construction and operation raises serious concerns about the health and well-being of residents citywide, as these impacts can reverberate far beyond the immediate vicinity of the project. Further the impact on the natural surroundings would be devastating.
On a personal note, we lived for many years in Milan, a city that has an extended metro system of 113 stations. Well, few stations lie above the ground and all of them are in the far out periphery of the city. How could you even conceive the idea to build a monstrosity like an elevated metro line so close to the heart of Copenhagen, in an area that will have a tremendous development in the near future and will attract an enormous amount of visitors? It would be a permanent scar without any chance of amendment.
In light of these concerns, I urge the municipality to reconsider the design of the metro project. An underground metro solution would alleviate many of these issues, preserving our green spaces, minimizing noise pollution, and protecting the integrity of our harbour. This approach would benefit the entire city, enhancing the aesthetic value of our community and ensuring a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly transport solution for all in the long run.
Thank you for considering my views on this important matter. I hope the municipality will take these concerns seriously and prioritize the well-being of our entire community in its decision-making process.
