Høringssvar vedrørende Krimsvej II - lokalplan 628

Hi,

My level of Danish is a little too limited to understand the Lokalplan in details, so forgive me if I’m missing some important points. This is only a comment on Krimsvej, the street itself, not the full block and its buildings. The only precise mention I saw of the street was a sentence about “trafiksikkerheden på vejen kan blive forbedret”, which is good but I haven’t seen more details about it. The state of the street is a big issue of the area. So I thought I’ll just quickly paste some of what I had written to the city once through digital post, just to be sure the problems are addressed.

“I would like to elect Krimsvej as the most messy street in Copenhagen :)

The same surface is used for: cars driving, cars parking, bicycles, pedestrians, all of it both ways. There are no sidewalks, no bicycle lanes, no line markings. The state of the street is also terrible: bumpy and uneven, full of puddles (or as I like to call them: our local lakes), so that the surface that can be driven/cycled/walked upon is greatly reduced.

It’s dangerous. Pedestrian have to avoid the bicycles that have to avoid the cars that are parking, unparking, driving one way, driving the other way. Parents with baby strollers also have to go through this. It’s a permanent zig-zag game. At night, it’s even worse.

And the few arrangements there are at the Øresund end of the street make no real sense and give people awkward diagonal entry-points to the street that makes it even more unexpected and dangerous.

So there is a need to rethink that street from scratch. Especially because:

– There are a lot of new residential buildings in this block between Krimsvej and Amager Strandvej, all built in the last few years, meaning the street have a tons of new residents and is used a lot more than ever.
– The street is in the perfect continuity of the new and very well done bicycle and walking lanes between Kløvermarken and Øresundsvej (Ved Amagerbanen). People taking this lovely lane and crossing Øresundsvej, to continue towards Amager Strand metro and beyond, suddenly come across a barren, terribly designed (or rather, not designed at all), and dangerous street, without cycling or walking lanes.

There is space to have a little two-ways bicycle lane and one sidewalk there, while keeping enough asphalt for cars driving and parking. I’m sure it could even fit some greenery there, just a few small trees or bushes to make the space more hyggeligt.”

That’s it. I’m also attaching a very old little sketch I made once of how the space was used and how it could be made better. Note that it’s probably not entirely up to date with the reality today, and the suggestion was a very quick job, nothing professional. Just to give a general idea :)
